Earlier this year in May, the Wolcott Land Conservation Trust was excited to announce that our 2.5-mile trail through Finch Brook Preserve was admitted into the Blue-blazed Hiking Trail System, a network of more than 800 miles of top-notch trails organized by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA).
We’re pleased to let everyone know that the Finch Brook Preserve trail has now been added to the interactive, online trail map which is maintained on the CFPA’s website. Of course, we encourage you to make use our own detailed map of Finch Brook Preserve here on the WLCT website, but the recent addition of the trail to the CFPA’s state-wide map is an exciting step and serves to illustrate our trail’s niche in the excellent blue-blazed network.
Every few years the CFPA also releases excellent printed trail guides (termed “walkbooks”) that document all of its trails throughout the state. These walkbooks have long been of great value to the avid hiker in the Nutmeg State and updated editions are likely to be released within the next year or two which will also include Finch Brook Preserve.
