Back in May this year, we were excited to announce WLCT’s Finch Brook Preserve had been admitted into the Blue-blazed Hiking Trail System, a network of more than 800 miles of excellent Connecticut trails organized by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA). By August, the preserve was added to the interactive trail map on the CFPA website. This month, Finch Brook Preserve was officially introduced to Connecticut on the CFPA website in the October 2014 article by Jen Benner titled “Newest Blue-Blazed Hiking Trail is a Real Treat!”
The article provides a brief overview of Finch Brook Preserve and also links to the new trail map created by the CFPA which is currently available from their website in PDF format. This is likely to be the same map that will be incorporated into the next edition of the CFPA Walkbook.
Everybody here at the Wolcott Land Conservation Trust is proud of what has been accomplished with Finch Brook Preserve; seeing it incorporated as a Blue-blazed Trail is quite an honor! With that, keep in mind that the trail is open year-round and you’re always invited to come hike Connecticut’s newest Blue-blazed Trail at Finch Brook Preserve!
